The treatment of the face, crown and tall thin chignon of the present piece are very closely related to Koh Ker-Pre Rup sculpture of the tenth century in Cambodia. Compare a related example illustrated in Wolfgang Felten and Martin Lerner in Thaï and Cambodian Sculpture, Klett-Cotta ed., Stuttgart, 1st edition 1988, no. 29, where the authors note that "much of what appears on Angkor Wat style figures in the round can be seen in earlier in the history of Khmer sculpture" (ibid. p. 216).
