a unique Polaroid print, titled and inscribed 'For Scott S. F.' in ink, the photographer's 'Polaroid Land Photograph by Ansel Adams' stamps, titled, dated, and annotated in ink, on the reverse, overmatted, with the 'Photograph by Ansel Adams' stamp, signed by Virginia Best Adams in ink, framed, 1961; accompanied by a certificate of provenance, signed by Michael and Jeanne Adams (2)
image: 3 1/2 by 4 3/8 in. (8.9 by 11.1 cm.)
frame: 17 by 19 3/4 in. (43.2 by 50.2 cm.)
This unique Polaroid print is in generally excellent condition. As is typical of the process, there is some pitting, hairline scratches, fingerprints, and some rust-colored discolorations in the left portion.
On the reverse, the annotations in Adams' hand on the stamp read: FILM '55 (#3)' [crossed out in an unidentified hand in red ink and replaced with '#99']; DEVEL '30' @ '65'; DATE '3-8-61'; and REMARKS 'Golden Gate.' 'Polaroid' and 'B12314' are stamped, and there are 2 brown tape remnants.
The print is overmatted with glossy, possibly photographic, paper with 3 pieces of tape affixed to the reverse. There is stray ink on the front of the overmat. The Michael and Jeanne Adams collection stamp, with '#4021' in pencil, is on the reverse of the folded card.
