partially-lacquered and gilt walnut, silk upholstery

Overall in very good condition. The painted wood surfaces present with a combination of black, gold and red coloration that enhance the carved decoration of the backrest, armrests and circumference of the base. The wooden surfaces present with light surface scratches, edgewear and minor areas of loss to the painted surface. There are some scattered areas of inpainting throughout which are not visible unless closely inspected and successfully restore the unity of the painted surface. The fabric has been replaced and is in very good condition overall. The backrest and cushion with some minor sun fading and discoloration to the fabric color, not visually distracting. An outstanding example displaying elegant lines and exquisite carving with rich coloration. The chair is also very comfortable and the current upholstery scheme is quite complementary to the chair’s lacquered and gilt wood frame.
