GUILLAUME SEIGNAC | PSYCHE WITH PUTTI
Property from a Private Florida Collection

PSYCHE WITH PUTTI
signed G. Seignac (lower right)
oil on canvas
canvas: 25 3⁄4 by 21 3⁄8 in.; 65.4 by 54.3 cm
framed: 33 by 28 3⁄4 in.; 83.8 by 73 cm
Not examined out of the frame. Oil on canvas, unlined. The surface is clean and fresh. There is a stable web of craquelure throughout the picture surface though it is for the most part barely discernible. There are two small losses to the figure's toga. Under UV light, there are small scattered spots of retouching in the figures, including three spots in the left putti's chin; a spot in the chin of the female figure as well as a few pinpoint scattered spots in her dress; and four small spots in the chest and stomach of the putti at right. Some minor strengthening to the outline of the female figure's proper left hand and some very small scattered dots of retouching in the greenery near the fence on which the figures lean.
