Patek Philippe released the reference 3520 in 1965 as the "flattest waterproof watch in the world". Over the course of its almost 25 year- production, the model was released in two consecutive variants and available in yellow, pink, white gold and platinum. The first series were fitted with the Piguet-based calibre 175 until 1977, while the second series relied on a Geneva sealed calibre 177 for a shorter period of time. The reference 3520D was introduced in 1968 as a bracelet version of the model. It enjoyed an outstandingly long production period until its discontinuation in 2008.
The present example, dated from 1972, belongs to the first series and therefore relies on the earlier cal. 175. Its delicate case was manufactured by renowned casemaker Wenger.
