MORTLACH GORDON & MACPHAIL 70 YEAR OLD 46.1 ABV 1938
Cask number 2656, bottle number 7 of 54, distilled on 15.10.38, bottled on 15.10.08, including a crystal stopper, metal stand and booklet
Distilled in 1938, a year before the beginning of World War II, this Mortlach bottling displays its rarity not only in vintage but also in age. At the time of its release, it was the oldest single malt whisky that was drawn from a cask that had spanned three generations of the Urquhart family, a testament to their extensive collection.
This 70 year old whisky, matured in a Spanish Oak Sherry Hogshead, was distilled in October 1938 and bottled at cask strength as one of just 54 decanters. Jonny Fowle.
