ii. Roscio, Giulio. Elogia militaria. Rome: Bartolomeo Bonfadino for Giovanni Angelo Ruffinelli, 1596, woodcut dolphin and anchor device on title-page
2 works in one volume, 4to (221 x 155mm.), contemporary German calf gilt (possibly by Elias Petersheim, see footnote), spine tooled in black with shelfmark stamped in gilt (21 F), edges gilt and gauffered, two pairs of green silk ties, some gilding slightly rubbed
The binder Elias Petersheim worked for the Elector Palatine Louis VI (died 1583) in Amberg and Heidelberg in the late sixteenth century. The centrepiece on this binding appears on several made by Petersheim for the Bibliotheca Palatina (see Schunke, plates LXVI and LXXXIII).
