RARE AT AUCTION AND WITH ALL THE FOLDING PLATES. As noted by ESTC, and as the case in the present copy, leaf L4 is cancelled, with a corresponding gap in pagination, but the text is continuous. Garrard coined the phrase "loop-hole" in this work, in relation to the building of a fortification.

Garrard was a veteran of the Dutch wars, and after his death in 1587 this work was completed and published by Robert Hitchcock, who added an appendix on logistics.
