ITALIAN, 18TH CENTURY
Pair of Angels
silver, on ebonised wood bases
figures: 14cm., 5½in. each
17.5cm., 6⅞in. each overall
Overall the condition of the silver is good, with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. The wings of both angels are bent. The joints are reinforced and it is possible the wings may have been reattached. There is tarnishing to the silver and there is particular dirt to the backs. There is rubbing to the surface, particularly at the high points and the tips of the fingers. There are chips to the ebonised wood bases, in particular to the angel with its face tilted towards the right.
