A CANDID IMAGE OF WALLY SCHIRRA SUITING UP

The Gemini 6 mission achieved the first crewed rendezvous with another spacecraft: its sister, Gemini 7. Schirra served as Command Pilot, with Tom Stafford as pilot, and successfully kept his spacecraft within one foot of the Gemini 7 spacecraft.

One of the Mercury Seven, over the course of his NASA career Schirra logged a total of 295 hours and 15 minutes in space.
