Canvas appears to have an old wax lining. There are some isolated areas of craquelure which appear stable. Overall the work appears in good condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals an opaque varnish. There appear to be some possible minor cosmetic retouchings to the left cheek of the right hand girl.
Held in a gilt plaster frame.
