oil on oak panel, a collector's red wax seal on the reverse
31.4 x 38.7 cm.; 12⅜ x 15¼ in.
The bevelled panel is uncradled, flat and stable. The paint surface is relatively clean, and the varnish is clear and even. There is a faint, diagonal surface scratch in the sky upper centre approx. 3cm. long. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a milky varnish underneath which old retouchings are visible scattered throughout the sky, as well as a line of retouching to an old, diagonal scratch in the lower left corner approx. 5cm., but the main composition appears largely untouched, and the painting in overall good condition. Offered in a plain wooden frame in very good condition.
