Condition Report

Property from the SØR Rusche Collection is available to view at Sotheby’s, New Bond Street, 13 – 18 September (weekdays 9am – 4.30pm; weekend 12-5pm).


The panel is uncradled, flat, and stable. The paint surface is clean and the varnish is clear and even. Inspection under UV light reveals very few minimal retouchings. The painting is in overall very good condition.

Catalogue Note

Both the present painting and its pendant belonged to the Duc de Praslin, where they were entitled Vue des environs de Lérida and attributed to Breenbergh. They remained together until the latter was sold at Sotheby's, Amsterdam, 5 November 2002, lot 141 (as Ryssen).1
