The canvas is lined, the paint surface is relatively clean and the varnish is quite discoloured. There are a few small spots of paint loss upper centre and upper right in the sky and leaves. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals areas of retouching along all four margins and in all four corners and retouching to a small loss in the leaves of the tree just above the centre. The majority of the composition however remains untouched and the painting is in good overall condition. Offered in a carved and parcel gilt wood frame with evidence of old woodworm and a number of losses.
