Condition Report

Property from the SØR Rusche Collection is available to view at Sotheby’s, New Bond Street, 13 – 18 September (weekdays 9am – 4.30pm; weekend 12-5pm).

The single oak panel is uncradled, flat, and stable. The paint surface is slightly dirty and the varnish is thick and discoloured. There is a distinctive network of craquelure consisting of diagonal lines, which are slightly apparent in the sky. Inspection under UV reveals sensitively executed retouchings to the darks of the cave on the left hand side and along the upper margin, as well as scattered in the lighter parts of the landscape center right, and through the waterfall. In overall fair condition.
