Condition Report

Property from the SØR Rusche Collection is available to view at Sotheby’s, New Bond Street, 13 – 18 September (weekdays 9am – 4.30pm; weekend 12-5pm).

The canvas is unlined. The paint surface is relatively clean, and the varnish is clear and even. Inspection under UV light reveals patched retouching scattered throughout the background, in the sitter's shoulders and around his lapels, as well as in his cheeks and between his eyebrows. The painting is in overall good condition.
