ITALIAN, NAPLES, 18TH CENTURY
polychromed terracotta, with glazed or glass eyes, on a wood base
terracotta: 21 by 37cm., 8¼ by 14½in.
base: 4.5 by 41 by 20cm., 1¾ by 16⅛ by 7⅞in.
Overall the condition of the terracotta is good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There appears to be a restored break to the proper left front leg, and possibly another to the proper right hind leg. There are a few small chips and abrasions at the high points of the fur. There is a darkish patina to the paintwork throughout. There is wear to the wood base, including evidence of past worming.
