Where acquired by the present collector in 2002.
This painting is a 19th Century copy after a painting by Adriaen van Ostade in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (inv. no. A 2332). It is likely that the artist of this painting was looking at a print of the original given that the composition is inverted.
