1889-1982

ROOFTOPS, TAVIRA, PORTUGAL

signed and dated ‘59

oil on canvas

76 by 101.5cm.; 30 by 40in.

The canvas is original and undulates slightly in places. There is a pattern of fine craquelure and cracking to areas throughout the composition, with a few instances of associated lifting. There are flecks of paint loss to the white tower at the right edge of the painting, with a few, more minor instances of specks of paint loss elsewhere. There are some Artists's pinholes present in the top left corner and along the lower half of the right edge. There is surface dirt to the work, and studio detritus and surface matter in places, with a few speckles of surface staining.

Inspection under Ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching.

The work is presented in a simple painted wooden frame.
