SIR CEDRIC MORRIS | LANDSCAPE (HADLEIGH)
12,000 - 18,000 GBP
SIR CEDRIC MORRIS
oil on canvas
61.5 by 76cm.; 24¼ by 30in.
Executed circa 1940s.
The canvas is original. It undulates slightly. There are scattered tiny holes to the canvas, most likely due to the weave of the canvas, and largely only visible when held up to light. There is a faint stretcher bar mark towards the top of the painting, with a few associated fine lines of craquelure, only visible upon close inspection. There are a few other minor instances of fine lines of craquelure in the sky, most apparent towards the top right corner and a line of cracking to the centre in the green. There are a small number of tiny flecks of loss, most evident to the upper left quadrant. There is surface matter and dirt to the work, with a few minor instances of studio detritus. This excepting, the work appears in very good overall condition.
Inspection under Ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching.
The work is presented in a painted wooden frame.
