SHELL FORM (MONASTRAL BLUE)

signed and dated 1960

oil on board

31.5 by 51cm.; 12¼ by 20¼in.

The board is affixed to the canvas backing board. There is some very minor rubbing to the extreme corners of the board with a tiny historic nick that has been infilled to the extreme upper right corner. There is a further nick to the centre of the upper edge. There is a very faint diagonal scuff towards the left edge of the board. There are a small number of tiny scuffs towards the centre of the right edge. There is a fingerprint to the white pigment to the right of the centre. There are one or two instances of small flecks of surface matter and studio detritus and some light surface dirt in places. This excepting, the work appears in excellent overall condition. There is also a historic scuff to the left of the signature and one or two scuffs elsewhere.

Inspection under Ultraviolet light reveals fluorescence and probable retouching to the aforementioned infill at the upper right corner and at the centre of the lower edge.

The work is floated and held on a canvas backboard and a painted wooden frame.
