GOLD, PERIDOT AND CITRINE BROOCH, RENÉ BOIVIN, FRANCE
Designed as a stylized chestnut, pavé-set with round and oval-shaped peridots, opening on calibré-cut citrines, unsigned, with French assay mark.
In good condition, with minor surface scratches and tarnish to the mounting commensurate with age and wear. Mounting tests as 18 karat gold. Marks of a possible now lost signature appear on the reverse side, towards base of rounded chestnut. The peridots are medium light strongly yellowish green, slightly included, with some minor abrasions and a few chipped stones; a couple of the peridots appear to have been replaced. The citrines are medium brownish orange, eye clean to slightly included, a few of the stones closest to the stem with chips. Dimensions approximately 2⅜ x 1¾ inches.
