Property from the Antoinette and Patrick Murphy Collection
JOHN HOYLAND, R.A.
DANCE OF THE OBJECT
signed, titled, dated 12.6.96 and inscribed on the reverse
acrylic on canvas
35.5 by 25.5cm.; 14 by 10in.
The canvas appears to be original, however the work is affixed to the backboard and as such inspection of the reverse is impossible. There is some very slight rubbing to the canvas in the upper left and lower left extreme edges. There are a small number of further instances of light rubbing to some of the thick areas of impasto in the upper right corner. There are tiny air bubbles throughout the paint surface, in keeping with the materials. There appears to be some accretion in the extreme lower left corner, possibly in keeping with the Artist's intentions. There is some light surface dirt and dust in places. This excepting the work appears to be in very good overall condition.
Inspection under ultra violet light reveals fluorescence in keeping with the Artist's working methods and materials.
The work is floated within a wooden box frame.
