Patek Philippe often partnered with fine retailers, providing specialized pieces and movements specifically for those vendors all across the world. The Cowell and Hubbard Co. was Cleveland, Ohio's oldest jewelry store, operating from 1861. The firm, which took control of the famed American silversmiths Royal Cowles (c. 1849), sold a fine array of timepieces, clocks, lamps and jewelry. Revered as one of the finest jewelry stores west of New York, the retailer opened their own New York City brick and mortar location by 1920. Cowell and Hubbard Co. was purchased by Bailey, Banks & Biddle in 1964, another fine retailer of Patek Philippe timepieces in the United States.
