4to (8 1/4 x 6 7/8 in.; 210 x 150 mm). Black letter, with some italic, woodcut text illustrations, ornamental wood- and metal-cut initials; lacking 26 of 340 leaves: lacks [maltese cross] 1–8; [fleuron] 1–2, 7–8; A1–2, 8; &4, Qq7–8; Rr1–8 (including title, many preliminaries, 3 leaves in Matthew, 6 leaves in Revelation, and Jugges's device); 11 leaves supplied from a shorter copy ([fleuron] 3–6; A4–5; Qq1, 3–6); some early tears and marginal repairs, mostly without loss, some marginal dampstaining, scattered wormholes at beginning and end, occasional shaving of headlines, shoulder-notes, and catchwords. Contemporary blind-panelled calf over wooden boards, brass catches and cornerpieces; rebacked, rubbed. Sold with all faults, not subject to return.


First edition of Tyndale's version with Jugge's revisions and the first of Jugge's three illustrated quarto editions. The Tables of Epistles and Gospels (Rr6) allows for a second Communion on Easter Day, which was dropped from the service book in August 1552. The almanac begins with 1552.
