Property from a Philadelphia Collection
American black walnut, cotton webbing, fabric upholstered cushion
10 x 84½ x 29⅞ in. (25.4 x 214.6 x 75.8 cm)
Overall in very good condition. The wood presents with minor surface scratches consistent with age and gentle use. The original cotton webbing is in good condition, with some minor staining, discoloration and slight slackening, consistent with the natural aging process of the material over time. Very minor losses of wood to the areas surrounding the screws, only visible upon close inspection. Leg was sensitively restored by the Nakashima studio. An overall finely figured piece with deep coloration and unique mortise and tenon joinery.
