UNTITLED (SELF-PORTRAIT, SHELLS)
carte-postale, inscribed 'Dear Joy, early cayatid [sic] coming your way soon xxx Francesca' in ink on the reverse, 1979-80
3¼ by 5⅛ in. (8.3 by 13 cm.)
As is expected of a postcard sent through the mail, this print is in generally fair condition. The following are visible: silvering in the darkest areas of the image; scuffs; wear to the edge and corners; and hard creases that appear to break the emulsion, including a larger diagonal crease across the lower right corner. There is a prominent area of creasing, emulsion loss and punctures in the upper right corner. The reverse is faintly soiled.

This postcard is postmarked 2 April 1980, shortly before Woodman's participation in 'Beyond Photography '80' at The Alternative Museum, New York, where she exhibited a large-scale photographic reconstruction of the façade of a temple, playing the roles of caryatids with friends.
