ANNA MARY ROBERTSON (GRANDMA) MOSES
signed MOSES © (lower right); also dated Feb 25., numbered 1603. and titled The Oaks. (on an original Grandma Moses label affixed to the reverse; copyright reserved to Grandma Moses Properties, New York)
oil, tempera and pencil on Masonite
18 by 24 ¼ inches
(45.7 by 61.6 cm)
Painted in 1954.
There is frame abrasion along the extreme edges. There appear to be two small watermarks in the upper right and a light surface scratch in the foreground at lower right. Under UV: although some pigments fluoresce, they appear to be the artist's original work. There appears to be inpainting to address frame abrasion primarily along the extreme upper edge.
