pedestal: 90 by 70 by 40cm., 35½ by 27½ by 15¾in.
Overall the condition of the marble is very good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are a few very minor chips and abrasions, including to the proper left big toe of the reclining putto. There is some sticker(?) residue to the proper right buttock of the standing putto. There are a few small naturally occurring inclusions.
There is minor wear to the ormolu base. The modern veneered marble base is in very good condition.

Peyre was trained by Alexandre Falguière and Antoine Mercié, two leading sculptors of the 19th century. He exhibited regularly at the Salon, of which he was a member from 1900 and won numerous awards.
