Condition
This work is in good condition overall. There is evidence of handling and wear to the edges including a tear at the right corner and a repaired tear at the bottom left corner, which is obscured by the mat. There is timestaining to the sheet visible, particularly where the mat hits the sheet. Upon close inspection there are numerous small areas in the upper register where the paper has been repaired which under ultraviolet light fluoresce darkly. The sheet is hinged in the top corner. Framed under Plexiglass.

Catalogue Note
"The women I paint now are very friendly and pastoral, like my landscapes, and not so aggressive. Women are the symbol of civilization, like the Venus of Willendorf. I can't get away from the femaleness—those breasts are such great shapes." Willem de Kooning
