The complete set, comprising 80 etchings with burnished aquatint, drypoint and engraving, 1797-98, very fine to good impressions from the First Edition, published by the artist, Madrid, 1799, printed in umber ink, with the scratch on Plate 45, on laid paper, loose (as issued)

Provenance

The Collection of Horatio Curtis; donated to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, 1922; private collection, purchased in the 1974 deacquisition, sanctioned by E. Sayrs; sold Christie's Paris, 29 November 2005, Lot 63, where acquired by the present owner

Condition

With full margins, in good condition, a few sheets with minor losses at the lower corners and along the lower sheet edges, several sheets with inconspicuous thinning in the margins, Plate 48 with a thinned area that has just broken through, Plate 18 with some uneven paper discoloration, contained loose in an archival clamshell box. (Printer's creases are inherent to production).
