Description
Château Latour 1970 Pauillac, 1er Cru Classéu. 3vts, 2ts, 4t/hs, 2hs, 1h/m, bin-soiled and glue-striped labels, soiled, partially torn, and corroded capsules, remnants of original tissue adhered to 3 bottles and labels, 3 slightly sunken corks, 2 signs of seepageIn 2019, I have never had a better bottle (from our own stock, bought in the 1970s, with perfect storage). Great colour and a true Pauillac First Growth cassis nose, with an affinity to Mouton here. Aromatic Cabernet at its height and headily scented with sublime terroir. A fabulous sensation on the palate, with power, succulence, fruit and...obvious future longevity. An incredible cocoa powder finish - intoxicating really. A sleeping giant - perhaps only dozing.
