Condition

The canvas is not lined. Examination under UV light reveals a thick varnish which prevents UV light from fully penetrating. However, there is a thin line of minor in-painting diagonally across the composition; as well as, a horizontal fine line of in-painting (approximately 10cm. long) to the upper right quadrant. There are further minor spots of retouching to all four corners. There is a vertical surface scratch (approximately 12cm.) long running from the upper edge, three minor scratches (approximately 3cm. each) towards the upper centre; as well as, a vertical scratch to the right part of the lower edge (approximately 7cm. long). There are two areas of stable craquelure in the upper right quadrant. This work is in overall fairly good condition.
