Dalzell Hatfield Gallery, Los Angeles Private Collection, Houston (sale: Sotheby's, New York, 30th September 1999, lot 78) Sale: Hauswedell & Nolte, Hamburg, 8th December 2001, lot 573 Galerie Stefan Roepke, Cologne Acquired by the present owner in 2002
Executed on cream wove paper, not laid down. The sheet is hinged to the mount at intermittent points along the upper and lower edges and is floating in its mount. The sheet is lightly time-stained and there is a further area of discolouration at the centre of the lower and upper edges, possibly corresponding to the removal of former old framer’s tape. There are artist pinholes in all four corners and the sheet is gently undulating. This work is in overall very good condition.
