Description

The necklace of graduated design featuring foliate motifs, set throughout with round, square and cushion-cut rubies, and pear-shaped, round, old European and single-cut diamonds, internal circumference 17 inches, partially signed David Webb; and a pair of coordinating earrings of floral design featuring round and pear-shaped rubies and round diamonds, unsigned. With signed box.

Condition

Both items in good condition, the mountings with surface scratches commensurate with wear, and a few areas of solder to the reverse on the necklace, not noticeable when worn. The necklace mounting partially stamped IridPlat for platinum; the earrings test as 18 karat (white) gold. The rubies, stated to weigh a total of 53.38 carats, are medium purplish red, slightly to moderately included with a few heavily included examples. The diamonds, stated to weigh a total of 19.25 carats, are approximately H-J color, with a few K-L examples, VS-SI clarity. Total gross weight approximately 76 dwts. Necklace clasp is fitted with a safety closure and closes securely. Earring length approximately 1¾ inches. The necklace accompanied by photocopy of David Webb sales receipt dated November 17, 1965, available upon request.
