Christie's, London, 6 June 1991, lot 16, where purchased by the present owner
Another, less finished version of this drawing is known (Sotheby's, Olympia, 15 September 2004, lot 4) and both are probably replicas of an oil painting dated 1934 (Christie's, London, 19 June 1997, lot 20).
The sheet is flat in the frame, irregularly-shaped at the extremities. There are artist's pinholes in the corners. The picture is ready to be hung.
The drawing is contained in a modern black wooden frame with a clean mount and under glass.
