Frost & Reed, London, where purchased by the present owner
‘Although they [horses] have given me much trouble and many sleepless nights, they have been my supporters, friends – my destiny in fact. Looking back at my life, interwoven with theirs – painting them, feeding them, riding them, thinking about them – I hope that I have learned something of their ways.’ Stanley Booth, Sir Alfred Munnings 1878-1959, 1978, p.16
The paper sheet is sound and there are no signs of cockling or obvious condition issues. There is possible a small area of staining to the sky in the top left corner.
The watercolour is contained in a simple gilt frame with a clean mount and under glass.
