Condition

This is an excellent example of Isabey's work of this date, retaining good colour in the painted detail. Unfortunately, in the margins, there is some dust staining, due to iron based mounting.

Madame Feydeau, wife of a Napoleonic officer, was the mother of the journalist Ernest Aime Feydeau (1821-1873) and grandmother of the celebrated comic playwright George Feydeau (1862-1921).
