Description

Of choker design, composed of three rows of polished sapphire beads, to a rectangular open work millegrain-set single-cut diamond clasp, centring on a collet-set cushion-shaped sapphire, length approximately 330mm, inscribed Cartier, indistinct maker's marks.

Condition

Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity dated from 11/11/2003 stating that the choker-necklace was retailed by Cartier Paris in 1980. Signed Cartier Paris to the reverse of clasp. Stamped with indistinct maker's mark, numbered 193827 and inscribed Pt 950 for platinum and OR for gold. Central sapphire measuring approximately 6.80 x 6.80 x 4.20mm, calculated to weight approximately 1.60 - 1.80 carats. Blue of strong saturation, transparent, some typical inclusions visible under magnification, light scratches and rubbed facet edges. Sapphire beads with some colour variations, blue of mid to strong saturation, semi-translucent, typical inclusion visible under magnification, some surface reaching, scratches, chips and worn surfaces. Diamonds bright and lively, estimated total diamond weight approximately 2.00 - 2.20 carats. Signs of wear consistent with normal use and age. Clasp closes securely. Overall in good condition. Gross weight approximately 52.7 grams.
