Catalogue Note

Theodoros Stamos' subtle abstraction manifests elegantly in 'Olympia Sun-Box,' 1967.  Inspired by his roots in the New York School, Stamos' painting transcends abstraction to grapple with relationships to nature and mythology.  The present work was included in the 2017 exhibition 'Theodoros Stamos: Contemplations on the Universal' at Hollis Taggart Gallery, New York.
