Description

  • 29.8 by 20.5cm.
Arabic manuscript on paper, 237 leaves plus 3 fly-leaves, 15 lines to the page written in naskh in black ink within clouds against a gold ground, ruled in red, verses separated by gold roundels, surah headings in red thuluth, margins with commentaries in black and red naskh, gold and polychrome frontispiece decorated with a fine and thick border of interlacing flowers and split-palmettes, preceded by a double page illuminated with prayers and a double page illuminated frontispiece with index of surahs, in lacquer binding with floral motifs

Condition

In good condition, the margins with minor restorations affecting mainly the lower outer borders, minor stains and smudges, the opening illuminations in good condition, with minor losses to the paint and some creases but bright; the binding, probably associated, with minor scratches and losses, as viewed.
