Description

  • 5.2cm. diam. 
the hunting cased gold keyless, jewelled gilt movement, white enamel dial, Roman numeral, outer minute rack with Arabic numeral, 14k gold case, case band with blue enamel and gold, one side with a portrait of Muzzafar al-Din Shah Qajar, the reverse with sun and lion royal symbol, engraved: 'no. 19739 - Repetition a Minutes, Chronographe'

Condition

The enamel with some retouching, including overpainting and consolidated with a varnish over surface, some of the inset stones in costume of the sitter missing, the watch would have been repeating (missing), all the hands are missing, doesn't wind, some scratches and general wear as consistent with use and age, as viewed.

A closely comparable pocket watch to the present example, bearing both the likeness of Muzaffar al-Din Shah and the Qajar royal emblem, was sold in these rooms, 7 October 2015, lot 399.
