the stonepaste body with tall moulded calligraphic inscription between foliate stems under a protruding band with smaller line of Kufic calligraphy, painted in white with black outlines and turquoise band on a cobalt blue ground under a transparent glaze, set onto custom metal mount

Colours and glaze strong with sections of iridescence throughout, broken and restored. The tile was covered with a thick layer of over-painting and grime. The paint was stripped to reveal the original glaze and some concealed decoration. There is some infill at the bottom left corner which was the most damaged part. There were also chips along the bottom which have been restored. There were some visible cracks to the upper frieze which have been restored. Set onto custom mount so the reverse is not fully visible, please consult a professional restorer for further advice on conservation of this piece, as viewed.
