Condition
Overall very good condition. The gilt bronze ceiling mount presents with bright and luminous etched gilding. The bronze surfaces with scattered extremely minor discolorations throughout consistent with age. The central canopy element has a slightly warmer gilt finish compared to the ceiling mount and is possibly an assembled component. The central canopy with a few scattered very minor and shallow dents consistent with age and gentle handling and not visually detractive. Some of the chains and balls with slight dulling do the gilt finish consistent with age. One shorter ball-chain lacking its terminating ball decoration. With replaced sockets, each with period fitters and three ball screws. Each of the fourteen “Tulip” shades is in very good condition with scattered minute air bubbles, particulate inclusions, and minor surface irregularities inherent in the making and not visually detractive. The upper shade aperture of each shade with some expected fleabites around the circumference, consistent with age and gentle handling and not visible when the shades are assembled. Six of the shades with a few slightly larger chips to the upper shade aperture, the largest measuring approximately 1/8 inch wide, not visible when the shades are assembled. One shade with a small areas of adhesive residue measuring approximately 1/4 x 1/2 inches. A highly dramatic and sculptural lighting fixture that is a truly defining piece for an interior.
