Condition

Overall very good condition. The glass with a few scattered small and minute air bubbles inherent in the making and not visually detractive. The ruffled fan with some subtle linear tool marks, also inherent in the making and quite commonly seen in Jack-in-the-Pulpit vases. The base with a few light surface scratches to the top surface and side contours of the foot. There is a small thin piece of wood (approximately 1 x 1 x 1/8 inch) lodged inside the bulb. (As this small piece of wood is in a location that is not reachable by hand, we have not attempted to remove it as it is seemingly doing no harm. Due to the opacity of the glass it is not visible from the exterior.) A rare example of Tiffany's iconic Jack-in-the-Pulpit series, displaying superb proportion, sculptural form and highly unusual coloration. When viewed with remitted light the glass appears a rich red-amber. When viewed with reflected outside light the exterior surfaces of the stem and foot range from hues of rich purple to aqua blue. . The exterior surfaces of the vase are intensely iridized, imparting the vase with strong luminous color and a range of brilliant hues. The dramatic ruffled fan displays striking jewel tones of magenta, red, aqua, turquoise, emerald green and gold.
