Resta in essa [Nature Morte, 1914, scultura] il protagonismo dell'immagine della cosa, in una chiave tutta'altro che concettuale, a dispetto dell'insistenza tautologica. Come nei dipinti dello stesso anno, da un canto respiranti il gusto del quotidiano di intonazione tutta fiorentina, quale troviamo nei dipinti più tradizionali come in quelli più moderni, e persino cubisteggianti e futuristeggianti, di un Soffici o di un Rosai; dall'altro anche'essi carichi di suggestioni di derivazione francese, fauve-matissiana sopratutto, con risultati espressivi talora però quasi pre-pop, con un gusto personalissimo, e quasi grafico, della sintesi piatta dell'immagine, che - questa sì - fa pensare ai modi di autori ben più avanzati nel tempo.
The centre of attention in this sculpture (Nature Morte 1914) is the image of something perceived in a way that is not conceptual despite the tautological persistence. Similarly to the paintings executed in the same year that on one side recalls the Florentine taste found in the more traditional paintings like the modern ones, and even the ones that enhance notes of Cubism or Futurism characteristic of works by Soffici or Rosai; on the other side, they are also full of suggestions of French derivation that recall Fauvism and Matisse, reaching with expressive results, sometimes nearly pre-pop, a very personal, almost graphic taste of the flat synthesis of the image, which reminds of methods of authors advanced over time.
