    On a Pierre de la Mésangère mount bearing the inscriptions Mr Le Baron de Taleyrand and bears the number 389 on the reverse of the mount

Condition

Contrecollé sur un montage de Pierre de la Mésangère. Très bon état général. Petite bulle d’air dans le papier derrière le vêtement, due au contrecollage. Légère abrasion dans l’angle en haut gauche. Les couleurs restent fortes et vibrantes. Dans un cadre en bois doré. Laid down on Pierre de la Mésangère mount. Overall in very good condition. Small air bubble in the paper located behind his coat, due to the sheet being laid down. Slight abrasion upper left corner. Colours remain strong and vibrant. Sold in gilt wood frame.

Catalogue Note

Our sitter is Louis-Anne Marie Baron de Talleyrand, uncle of the famous Prince of Talleyrand to whom the soldier de Lédans attempted to sell drawings by Carmontelle.  Concerning Louis-Anne de Talleyrand he was Camp Marshall in 1781 and Ambassador to Naples in 1788, he died during the first year of the French Revolution in 1789.
