Courtyard : Original canvas. Small chips of matter are missing alongside the borders. Craquelures are scattered on the surface, and thinner ones appear in the dark areas by the woman standing by the well. Under UV light, small retouches appear alongside the borders. Soldier : Original canvas. Craquelures are visible on the surface. Under UV light, small retouches are visible alongside the borders. Both paintings would benefit from a light cleaning.

Another version with the same subject is also kept at Carnavalet, of lesser quality and thus considered a studio work.
