This elegant portrait was acquired in the 1940s’ by Walter Rewald on recommendation of his brother John Rewald, the famous art historian.
Executed on white wove paper, laid down on cardboard which is hinged to the overmount with tape along the upper edge. The all four edges are deckled with some slight light staining at the extreme edges. There is some faint light-staining to the centre part of the composition, possibly from a previous mounting.
