Very good condition for an object of this type and age. Minor marks, nicks, scratches, abrasions, and small chips, consistent with age and use. A piece of shell inlay missing from the proper left side of the face, and two pieces of inlay missing from the chin, all as visible in the catalogue illustration. The front most pieces of shell in either band on the proper left side of the face may be replaced. Very fine layered encrusted patina, with some glossy areas, with some typical wear to the reverse, where the object was bound to the canoe. Has stand.
